As a communications and project management specialist across the government, not-for-profit and private sectors, she has developed considerable skills in stakeholder management, targeted communication and program delivery.
As a senior policy manager with the Department of Premier and Cabinet, she developed key statutory reform documents and sector analysis for the Victorian Aboriginal Heritage Council. She oversaw development and implementation of Council’s core strategic and operational documents including the State of Victoria’s Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Report 2016-2021 and provided strategic policy advice including overseeing Taking Control of our Heritage – 24 Recommendations for Reform of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006.
Providing strategic communications and policy advice at the Victorian level, she has been the Senior Communications Advisor at both Federation of Victorian Traditional Owner Corporations and First Nations Legal and Research Services.
Alix has also managed sites of shared heritage and advancing recognition of Aboriginal Cultural Heritage within the broader heritage area. As Senior Manager at the National Trust of Australia (Victoria) she was responsible for the return of the Ebenezer Mission, Antwerp to Traditional Owners and development of policy for the organisation.
Using communication as a cross generational and sector tool, she developed This Place Matters, a bespoke community engagement Historypin project and Lost 100, Our City and Trust Trees, three advocacy and activation apps using augmented reality. She also coordinated the successful annual National Heritage Festival incorporating 2,000 small regional to large urban heritage events.
